There are fees associated with expediting your passport in addition to the government fees. 24 Hour Passport and Visas offers to expedite the process of your passport or visa as fast as 72 hours, this means you will get your travel document quicker then through any other way and you can be sure you will have the documents you need for your next travel in time. This depends on the service you have chosen. If you have decided to apply through a routine passport service via the post office, the processing time can be 12-16 weeks depending on the volume of applications. There is an increase in passport application submissions during peak travel times and that may cause additional delays when applying through the post office. This peak travel time is usually when the holiday season approaches and people plan for vacations. If you need your passport faster than this you have to expedite your application process.

If an expedited passport agency service such as 24 Hour Passport and Visas has been used, the processing time is under 2 weeks and in some cases, it can be expedited within 72 hours.

If there has been a name change due to your marriage, in the United States, you will be required to have your current legal name on the passport you plan to travel with. If you are wanting to change your name in less than a year of the issue of your passport, you will not be required to pay any additional fees. This applies only if you choose to use a routine passport service.

However, if your passport was issued more than a year ago, you will be charged to pay for an adult renewal application or a child renewal application depending on your age. If you opt for expedited passport service, you will be charged in both cases.

Following are the steps you must complete in order to renew your passport: 

Step 1: Complete DS-5504 or DS-82 application form

If you are applying for a name change on your passport within one year after issuance, you will be required to fill an application form called DS-5504. This application will have to be completed online, printed and make sure you sign it.

If you are applying for a name change on your passport which was issued more than a year ago, you will be required to fill an application form called DS-82. This application will have to be completed online.

Step 2: Gather all required documents

Two passport photos (2″ x 2″ with a white background). A photo service is available at our office.

Proof of Identity (A Valid Driver’s License, Government Issued Photo I.D).

An original or certified true copy of documentation showing the name change (example: Marriage License, Court Order, Divorce Decree, etc.).
