Types of fees charged on passport service?
Prices vary depending on passport service chosen, however, you must know what you are paying for in your application process. The following are the types of fees you may need to pay when applying for a passport.
Acceptance Agent Fee
When applying for a New Passport, Child Passport or applying for a Lost or a Stolen passport you will be required to not sign your application form. You will be required to schedule an appointment at an Acceptance Agent Facility nearest to you. The Agent will then examine all the documents you are required to submit for the application process and verify the applicant’s identity. Once everything has been confirmed, the Acceptance Agent will ask the applicant to sign the application form and act as a witness to the event. This is when you will be required to pay a fee to the Agent for his service. As of January 2020, the execution fee is $35.00 and must be paid to the agent facility and not elsewhere.
Application Fee
This is the mandatory fee charged by the US government for the application process of passports. It is directly paid to the U.S. Department of State. Do not confuse this with the execution fee as they are both different. A total of two separate payments are required to be made; one to the Acceptance Agent facility and the other to the U.S. Department of State. Please make sure to mail or include a Certified Check or Money Order payable to the “US Department of State” for the service you pay for.
Expedited Passport Services
If you cannot wait for 12-16 weeks, you may choose to make use of our expedited service. 24 Hour Passport and Visas offers various passport expedited service which will shorten the application processing time to 2-3 weeks. You can choose to expedite from our passport agency in as soon as 24 hours. Along with the application and execution fee, you will have to pay an additional fee to 24 Hour Passport and Visas. The expedited fee is for the speeding of the application process.

How long does it take for a person to get a passport?
This depends on the service you have chosen. If you have decided to apply for a routine passport, the processing time can be 12-16 weeks depending on the volume of applications. There is an increase in passport application submissions during peak travel times and that may cause additional delays when applying through the post office. This peak travel time is usually when the holiday season approaches and people plan for vacations. If you need your passport faster than this you have to expedite your application process.
Through the expedited option, the application process to apply for a new passport, renewal of an expired passport or other passport related matters is shortened. The estimated processing time is 4 to 6 weeks when applied through the post office. It can be renewed in as little as 24 hours when expedited with a passport agency such as 24 Hour Passport and Visas. With this option, 24 Hour Passport and Visas charges an additional fee in order to speed up the processing of your application. Check the price here.
24 Hour Passport and Visas provide the following expedited services:
- New U.S. Passport
- Second Valid Passport
